1.1. Customers can obtain a quote for their mobile phone on buyaphone.ie by providing accurate information about the device's make, model, and condition.

1.2. The quoted price is an estimate based on the information provided by the customer and is subject to change after an inspection of the actual device.

1.3. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the information provided during the quote process is accurate and truthful. Any discrepancies may affect the final trade-in value.

  1. Stolen Devices

    2.1 As a company that is keen to protect its reputation, we do not purchase items that have been reported as stolen or lost. To protect ourselves, we use a state-of-the-art system that allows us to access information from insurance companies, law enforcement, and carriers to identify stolen or lost devices and items.

    2.2 You also accept that we will assist law enforcement in the investigation of any stolen item. To do this, it is our policy to record the electronic serial number for all items that we procure, as this makes it easy for us to provide law enforcement with a proper trail for any items under investigation.

    2.3 Where we deem it necessary, we may require you to contractually confirm that the item you are offering for sale is indeed yours to sell and that it has not been reported as stolen or lost. Therefore we require proof of purchase of said item and proof of identity such as a valid passport or valid driving licence when the value of the item is โ‚ฌ500 or higher.

    1. Device Eligibility

    3.1. We accept mobile phones in working and faulty condition for trade-in. The device must power on, and have all parts/hardware components intact.

    3.2. Devices with excessive physical damage, including but not limited to cracked screens, water damage, or significant cosmetic flaws, may be ineligible for trade-in or may receive a reduced trade-in value.

    3.3. The device must be free from any outstanding financial obligations, such as outstanding contract balances or being reported as lost or stolen.

    1. Trade-in Inspection and Valuation

    4.1. Once the customer ships the device to buyaphone.ie, it will undergo a thorough inspection to verify its condition and functionality.

    4.2. The final trade-in value may differ from the initial quote if there are discrepancies between the provided information and the actual condition of the device.

    4.3. If the device is found to be ineligible for trade-in or its value is reduced due to discrepancies, buyaphone.ie will contact the customer to discuss the revised trade-in value.

    4.4. The trade-in value will be determined solely by buyaphone.ie, based on its assessment of the device's condition and market value.

    1. Payment

    5.1. If the device meets the eligibility criteria and its value is confirmed, buyaphone.ie will process the payment to the customer using the chosen payment method.

    5.2. The payment will be made within a reasonable timeframe after the device inspection is complete and the trade-in value is confirmed.

    5.3. Buyaphone.ie reserves the right to withhold payment or offer a reduced trade-in value if the device is found to be in a different condition than described during the quote process.

    1. Customer Responsibilities

    6.1. Customers are responsible for packaging and shipping the device to buyaphone.ie using a secure and traceable shipping method.

    6.2. Customers should ensure that the device is securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.

    6.3. Customers should remove any personal data or confidential information from the device before sending it to buyaphone.ie. Buyaphone.ie will not be liable for any loss or misuse of personal data left on the device.

    1. Privacy and Data Protection

    7.1. Buyaphone.ie will handle all customer data in accordance with applicable data protection laws and its privacy policy.

    7.2. Customer information will be used solely for the purposes of the trade-in process, including inspection, valuation, and payment.

    7.3. Buyaphone.ie will take reasonable measures to protect customer data; however, customers acknowledge that no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed as completely secure.

    1. Limitation of Liability

    8.1. Buyaphone.ie will not be liable for any loss or damage to the device during shipping or transit.

    8.2. Buyaphone.ie will not be responsible for any loss of personal data or confidential information left on the device.

    8.3. In no event shall buyaphone.ie be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the trade-in process,

    8.4 Buyaphone.ieย uses An Post for providing free shipping to send your device to us but please be aware that this service is not insured meaning we will not cover the value of the device if it is damaged or becomes lost during shipment. If you want to insure your shipping you will need arrange your own shipping to buyaphone.ieย 

    1. EU Database Checks and Obligation to Hold Devices

    9.1. As part of the trade-in process, buyaphone.ie is legally required to perform checks on all received devices against the EU database for lost, blocked, or stolen phones.

    9.2. If a device is identified as lost, blocked, or stolen during the EU database check, buyaphone.ie will follow the applicable legal requirements and procedures.

    9.3. In such cases, buyaphone.ie will hold the device for a mandatory period of 30 days from the date of identification to allow the customer to resolve the issue or for the rightful owner to claim it.

    9.4. During this 30-day holding period, buyaphone.ie will take reasonable steps to contact the customer and provide necessary information or assistance in rectifying the situation.

    9.5. If the customer can provide valid proof of ownership or resolve the issue within the 30-day period, buyaphone.ie will proceed with the trade-in process as per the original agreement.

    9.6. If the customer fails to resolve the issue or provide satisfactory proof of ownership within the 30-day period, buyaphone.ie may be obligated to report the device to the appropriate authorities.

    Note: The EU database checks are conducted to comply with legal obligations and prevent trade-in of devices that may be associated with illegal or unauthorized activities. The purpose of the holding period is to ensure fairness, security, and compliance with applicable laws.

    How fast do I get paid?

    When you ship your phone to us we will try and inspect it on the day it arrives to our warehouse. When this happens you will recieve an email from us saying that we are inspecting the phone.

    If everything checks out with your phone and there are no issues you will get a further emails from us saying that your payment is processing and you will be paid in 1 to 3 business days!

    How do I send my phone to you?

    You can send your phone to us for free using our service that we have set up with An Post.

    Once you have created your trade in order above you will be sent an email on how you can create your free label to send your phone to us!

    What should I do before shipping my phone to you?

    Before you ship your phone to us please read the email that will be sent to you after you create your trade in offer above on how to prepare your phone for trade in.

    We ask that you factory reset your phone and that you turn off and remove your iCloud/Google account from your phone.

    Failure to do so will cause delays in your phone being inspected and paid.

    How should I package my phone for shipping?

    When you are preparing to pack your phone to send to please make sure that you use a small box slightly bigger than your phone and wrap it in bubble wrap so that it cannot move around inside the box.

    Then we suggest putting this box into a padded envelope to make sure no damage is caused to the phone while being shipped.

    If you have ordered from us you can reuse the box that your new phone came in!
